Jazz in the Park (even more hats)
About a year ago I started painting hats. We had been to an outdoor jazz concert in Victoria, B.C. on a sunny day and I began to notice that everyone had on a hat! I consider them portraits of a kind as each has it's own character.

I wanted to copy a portrait of a master to learn more about portraiture. Van Gogh being my favorite was a no brainer. Loved working with the chunks of paint.

Guatemala
These two paintings I painted from photos taken while the youth group from Grace Bible Church was working in Guatemala. I was drawn in by the joy of children running and playing in the midst of poverty. Sold both in the GBC auction for the next trip.

Wailing Wall

Painted this after a trip to Israel. I was captured by this teenage girl rocking and praying at the ancient Wailing Wall in Jerusalem with plastic chairs scattered around.
Sold at an auction at Grace Bible Church in Dallas to raise money for the youth group mission trip.
